
This Sunday, February 16, Aremy Rodríguez Santiago, adviser to the electoral district 05 of the National Electoral Institute (INE) in Tlapa, Guerrero, was the victim of a shooting attack by unidentified individuals. In addition to her role at the INE, she is the secretary of the Tlapa Police Station, in the municipal seat of the La Montaña region. The attack was publicly condemned by the General Coordination of the Feminist School of Human Rights, urging the authorities of the State Attorney General's Office to clarify the incident.
In a statement issued in Tlapa, it was emphasized: “We strongly condemn the feminicide attempt that our fellow teacher, Aremy Rodríguez Santiago, a member of the academic body of the Feminist School of Human Rights, suffered today, Sunday, February 16, around 7:30 a.m.” Protection measures and proper medical attention for Aremy were also demanded: “We request that the authorities take immediate protection measures and transfer her to the nearest hospital so that she can receive the attention required for the serious state she is in.”
Aremy Rodríguez is an activist who has received support from various groups in the La Montaña region, who have joined in demanding a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities. It is expected that those responsible will be identified and receive the punishment they deserve.
